myScoop – A new Aggregator with Hope
10
NovIt is not to often that a fresh new South African site comes along and I sit back and think “I like what they are doing here”. myScoop is a new aggregator created by Nick Duncan who seems to be getting it all right one step at a time. If one man can create such a site with so much functionality then it makes me wonder what happened to such sites as Amatomu which have gone up in smoke and become a heated debate on Chris M’s Blog.
What has myScoop done right so far?
- Blog Aggregator: myScoop has a blog aggregator that allows you to create a profile and add your blog. It DOES NOT limit the amount of blogs you post under your profile (yet).

- Social Bookmarking: It has a very easy to use social bookmarking platform that uses OpenID for easy login. The bookmarks have categories and are ranked by the number of unique clicks the topic gets.
- Topic Stats: There is a very easy to understand stats page for each article that shows you the daily clicks for the topic.

- MyPage : Each member gets a myPage area where they can follow others blogs and keep up-to-date with what is happening in their areas of interest.
- Blog Profile: Each blog entered has a profile of its latest posts.
- Shares the love: At the moment the blog does not make use of the “nofollow” attribute. So all outgoing links share link juice.
- Keeps it Simple: So far the site is simple and easy to use, if I don’t have to search like crazy to find something then I will probably like stick around.
- Creates a Community: The overall vibe in myScoop is sure to be informative and friendly, this is what all social media platforms strive for and myScoop seems to have that from the start.
- Uses a Fresh Content approach: The blog aggregator shows the blogs as they are published (not as submitted) so you will always see blogs that are actively updating their site and content.
Conclusion
Although there is a lot still to be done on the myScoop site, go take a look and get your blogs aggregated. Nick Duncan is open to feedback and will consider adding new and exciting recommendations.
