Content must be unique in order to remain indexed for caffeine, Duplicate content filters are more sensitive to similar templates. Load time is more important than previously. Post frequency is a valid metric which means if you increase frequency to 2 or 3 posts per day in your blog, then maintain that frequency in order to keep rankings climbing for the new content.

I wouldn't remove the keywords tag entirely, just because Yahoo (I think) still give it some thought. I'd just drop ten or so important words in there and forget about it.

Like I said, Joomla can do well in SEO but unfortunately it takes far to long to do the basics. When I'm working on an SEO project I don't want to have to spend hours tweeking. I want to get the site ready as quickly as possible. Less steps to effectiveness is always better.

Good tips for beginners, for peeps that know what they're doing however there is nothing wrong with Joomla as a CMS. I work with both and have some Joomla sites which outperform their WP counterparts. But for newbies I agree WordPress is literally plug and play.
